Located on the top floor in one of the prime locations of Nashik is the breezy, open and elegant restaurant MD’s Sapphire. Taking inspiration from the most inexhaustible visual resource – the sky, the restaurant has been designed by Ar. Dhananjay Mahale and his team at InterArch Associates with utmost care and detail. As soon as you enter the premises, you are welcomed with an international aura of luxury.

The restaurant has a central lounge, a bar area, a party hall and peripheral seating to enjoy and take in the openness of the location. The lounge has a central raised deck and it is covered with wooden pergola’s overhead. Small pockets of spaces have been created within the open platform using tropical elements like potted plants and earthen urns. The materials used give the space a very tropical yet international feel.

The peripheral part of the lounge has a lowered level. On this lowered peripheral strip are placed tables for smaller gatherings, essentially providing private spaces for lone diners and couples without the customary physical barriers. The lounge has a rather high glass parapet, providing enclosure without any visual hindrance, the uninterrupted vista being the primary allure of the lounge. In stark counterpoint to the use of natural materials like wood and pebbles are the straight lines and minimalistic furniture in the seating space, creating a delicate balance, topped off by the vast expanse of sky acting as a vibrant ceiling to this space.

Framing the sky so gently and organically to create a complex and harmonious building with the sky as an elusive presence is an art only a few can master, and as we can see and experience, this design has done exactly that, making it a location that must be visited.
